Courtyard seating at Casa Tejar
Recommended

Casa Tejar

El Poblado · Restaurant · $$$$

The date-night booking that still works when the occasion is real.

  • Courtyard seating
  • Book ahead
  • $$$$
  • Wine list
Why it made the cut
  • The courtyard is genuinely quiet enough for a conversation, which is rare in this part of the city.
  • Grill work has been consistent across three visits.
  • They hold reservations and seat on time.

The trade-off: It is expensive by Medellín standards, and the wine markup is where the bill grows. The indoor room is far less pleasant than the courtyard — ask when you book.

Bar at Bodega Treinta
RecommendedSponsored

Bodega Treinta

Manila · Wine bar · $$$

A good late drink in Manila, and one of the few places pouring interesting wine by the glass.

  • Open until 01:00
  • Wine by the glass
  • Small room
  • $$$
Why it made the cut
  • The by-the-glass list is genuinely rotated, not a fixed house pour.
  • Staff can talk about what they are pouring without reading a card.
  • Open late enough to be useful after dinner elsewhere.

The trade-off: It is small and loud after 9pm, and the food is a supporting act. Do not plan dinner around it.

Arrivals hall meeting point at Medellín airport
Recommended

Traslados Valle

El Poblado · Airport transfer · $$

Worth the premium over a rank taxi on a first arrival, at night, or with luggage and children.

  • Fixed price
  • Meets inside arrivals
  • 24 hours
  • English booking
Why it made the cut
  • Fixed price confirmed at booking, including the airport toll — no renegotiation at the curb.
  • Drivers wait inside arrivals with a name board and track flight delays.
  • Vehicles were clean, insured and seat-belted on both bookings we made.

The trade-off: It costs meaningfully more than the official airport taxi rank, and it must be booked in advance. For a daytime arrival with hand luggage, the rank is fine.
